I mean my quest to have an Xiaomi mi3 mobile of my own when i received that fateful message from my friend Sagar tambade. His post contained snapshots of a mobile phone that was a looker. I was hooked to its physical features from that instant itself.Upon enquiry , i came that this device was selling like a hot cake. Flipkart, the sole source of this phone was having a tough time managing the traffic that this phone generated whenever it became available for flash sale. The term "flash" is also very apt here since this phone became out of stock within a flash i.e. few seconds.
All of this further boosted my inner desire to lay my hands on this device and have it for myself. So i started gathering more information about the process.Then i came to know that one needs to register on Flipkart to be able to take part in the flash sale. I , promptly ,registered myself on Flipkart and started waiting for the Flash sale of mi3 to happen. In some days i came to know that this flash sale has been discontinued for indefinite period as the company Xiaomi (manufacturer of mi3 ...) has focussed its attention towards selling a lower end i.e. budget phone called Redmi.
I became desperate and started scourging the net to try to get information on purchasing this phone outside Flipkart. And it was then that i came to know that phone was available for purchase on e-bay, quikr etc but at a much higher price. I negotiated with one such guy on Quikr. His name was Shubham (surname withheld to protect privacy ;) He was the owner of one mi3 phone and had ordered another one knowing that it would sell as people were eager to pay higher price to purchase this phone.
After some negotiation, i was able to settle his commision at 1500. I added him as beneficiary in my HDFC account that very day and also sent him my home address to be set as a delivery address as the device was yet to be shipped.The next day i got a call from him enquiring about the amount.This reminded me about the deal and i promptly transferred the amount to his account. He then informed me that he has changed the delivery address as per our aggrement and shared the snapshot on..you guessed it right, the Whats App.
After few days , one fine morning i received an sms from Flipkart stating that my mi3 has been shipped and would be reaching my home in 3-4 days and that i had to keep the cash handy.It was then i realised that i had shortage of cash ;) in my main account. I arranged for the required amount i.e. 14k and waited for the delivery to happen.Finally, on saturday afternoon i got a call enquiring whther i was at home. Upon my confirmation i was informed that the delivery would be made in 15 minutes or so.Oh my god, that wait of 15 minutes... Finally, the doorbell rang and there was that guy holding one of my most cherished things.
I handed over the cash to him, smiling very broadly (mann mein laddoo phoota :) was the feeling)
Then i proceeded to opening the box and there it was...my mi3... I have created an unboxing video of the same which is available on youtube...see you in another blog guys...c ya...sayonara.. :)
